Moments Suspended and other work

Encaustic painting is actually an ancient technique and has regained popularity recently. It is amazingly versatile and many artists seem to devise their own techniques to push the limit. I use encaustic medium in natural colour and layer with highly pigmented alcohol inks. This method allows me to layer the ink’s vivid colours without muddying. Every time I paint with alcohol ink, which evaporates in seconds, melted encaustic medium is applied over it and then ‘fused’ with a torch. This rhythmical process aligns with my subject matter.
