Not-an-online, real exhibition!

Yes, an actual physical exhibition is being held. Not a traditional, full-scale Degree Show and not open to public, but the format is similar and families and friends can view the exhibition through a strict booking system.

The atmosphere when we visited was ………. well, there was no atmosphere really, as we were the only visitors in sight. Still, all of us in my surviving cohort are grateful. After an extraordinary year during which we hardly had a chance to see one another, we chatted online in preparation for a shared experience - the exhibition. And that in itself felt special.

What surprised me most about the MA part of the exhibition was the variety. Many of us are painters and even among the small number of us, I saw a wide range of subject matter, style and palette - from landscape to feminism, super-realism to pop, vibrant to earthy.

It was SOOO good to see their work in real. I could see many changes in their work and wondered about their artistic struggles over the last few months while fighting our battles individually. Wished we were there together so that we could chat about it.

We’re hoping to meet up (outside) on the exhibition removal day when we can share our stories. And then we will start our next challenge which is Exhibition 2 this September, our last hurdle of the course.
